Closed Cell, Open Cell, or Air Sealing?

Closed cell is the premium option: R-6 to R-7 per inch, hydrophobic, a vapor barrier built in, and it stiffens what it's sprayed on. Rim joists, crawlspace and foundation walls, metal buildings, and thin cavities are where it earns its price. Open cell costs less per board foot, fills standard wall and roof cavities completely, and is by far the better sound insulator — the most common wall choice for houses with full-depth framing.

Air sealing is the smallest, fastest job — focused foam at the rim joist and the attic bypasses. It's the right call when cold floors, drafty baseboards, or ice dams are the complaint and the house already has reasonable insulation depth. Still not sure which fits? Call 207-223-6332 and describe the building — the owner will tell you straight what's worth doing and what isn't.

What Every Job Gets, Everywhere in Maine

Every job starts with a free estimate from the owner and a quote priced by the board foot. Before spraying, every surface is checked to be at least 40°F and under 18% moisture content — before the job and at the start of every day. Products are the most chemically advanced foams available, with no formaldehyde. When the spraying is done, excess foam is shaved flush and the site is left broom clean — it's stated in the contract.
